BIBIR-GHANA a local NGO based in Tamale has its operational areas in the Tamale Metropolis, Tolon Distric and Savelugu-Nanton Municipal.
We work mainly to promote the welfare of women and children. 'BIBIR' is the Dagaare word for 'children', and it is because of our passion to provide support for children that the NGO is named BIBIR-GHANA.
Children can either be direct beneficiaries of our services, such as through the distribution of school materials, provision of mobile libraries in schools, organising of extra classes and providing Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) or they can also be indirect beneficiaries through the empowerment of their mothers and support of their fathers through farming. We believe that the empowerment of women is of tantamount importance due to their role in raising the children. Once the women are educated and empowered the children's school going can be sustained.
Most funding for projects are through fundraising, grants, donations, donor support etc.
BIBIR-GHANA is legally registered under the Registrar General's Department in Accra as well as with the Social Welfare Department in Accra. Every activity BIBIR undertakes has as a goal to improve the situation of the child in the end. The main office is in Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region.
